Niagara Falls man pleads guilty in taxi robbery

LOCKPORT – Keonta J. Mayfield, 20, of Willow Avenue, Niagara Falls, pleaded guilty this week in Niagara County Court to taking part in the robbery of a taxi driver June 7.

Mayfield admitted to third-degree robbery and is scheduled for sentencing Dec. 7 by Judge Sara Sheldon. Charges remain pending against a co-defendant, Kaii` K. Myles, 18, of Spruce Avenue in the Falls.

Police reported at the time that they caught the pair while investigating a reported burglary attempt at a house in the 1800 block of Willow Avenue.

As officers were apprehending Myles and Mayfield, a cab stopped and the driver said he had just been robbed of $90 at gunpoint. The cabbie identified the two men as the robbers.
