Why did it take GOP leaders so long to condemn Trump?
Now the white guys get it. They recognize who/what Donald Trump is. Finally the Republican leaders in Congress get it.
Martin Niemoller, a German pastor in the 1930s and ’40s, speaking of the rise of the Nazis, said: “First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out – because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out – because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out – because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me – and there was no one left to speak for me.”
Trump insults and attacks Mexicans, immigrants and women. He threatens violence against anybody who disagrees with him. Not a peep from party leaders. But he attacks somebody who looks like them, who might be related to them, ah, now they get it. What took so long?
