Venus Mediterranean restaurant sets Theater District opening

A Mediterranean restaurant on Pearl Street offering Egyptian and Greek dishes has set its grand opening for Oct. 28.

At 452 Pearl St., owner Jack Adly will open his second Venus outlet.

The first is in University Plaza, across Main Street from the University at Buffalo’s South Campus. That restaurant will remain open, Adly said. The menu is identical at both places, with souvlaki, hummus, falafel and Greek fries with feta and garlic sauce.

Venus also offers a dash of Egyptian comfort food, like koshrey, rice pilaf with lentils, onions and tomato vinaigrette. Vegetarians might also be interested in grilled eggplant baked in tomato sauce.

At the start, the downtown location will be open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Adly said. He will be seeking a beer and wine license. Customers who order food from Oct. 28-30 will get free hummus, he said.
