Sarah E. Mess and Timothy P. Fitzgerald were married at 2 p.m. on July 16 in St. Jude the Apostle Parish, North Tonawanda. Guests gathered for a reception at Riverstone Grill at Beaver Island Clubhouse, Grand Island. The Rev. Joseph A. Salerno, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica, heard the couple’s vows. The bride’s parents are Douglas and Susan Mess of North Tonawanda. The bridegroom’s parents are Michael and Sandra Fitzgerald of Utica. The bride, a graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting communications and a master’s degree in public administration from SUNY Brockport. She is an admissions adviser at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The groom, a graduate of Thomas R. Proctor Senior High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in government and politics from Utica College and also earned a master’s degree in public administration from Binghamton University. He is a project manager at Mohawk Valley Edge. After a cruise to the Bahamas, the couple will make their home in Utica.
