Amherst woman accused of texting while driving drunk

City of Tonawanda police charged an Amherst woman early Sunday with drunken driving and texting while driving along Niagara Street.

Officers pulled over Sherette A. Scorsone, 43 of Lennox Avenue  after they reported seeing her "texting" with both hands and driving very slowly at 12:45 a.m.

At one point, Scorsone was at a traffic signal and didn’t proceed when the signal turned green, because of  her texting, police said.

Scorsone allegedly told police  she “had a few beers, downtown.”

She refused to take blood-alcohol tests, police said.

Scorsone was charged with driving while intoxicated, texting while driving and having no hands on her steering wheel.
