The Century Grill, 318 Pearl St., is closing after a Nov. 1 farewell celebration.
"This was not a choice on our part," owner Kelly DiDomenico wrote on the restaurant's Facebook page. "For all the patrons, families, and friends that have given their love, we kindly thank EVERYONE who has blessed us with their presence in the past years."
The building has been sold, and the new owners are taking over, said DiDomenico. She took over the restaurant in 2011 after a lifetime in the business, including stints at Pizza Plant, Hyde Park, Bijou Grille, E.B. Green's and The Rendezvous. She expanded the restaurant's beer selection and built it into one of the best happy hours in Buffalo.
DiDomenico added: "The people that have worked here, most have worked here for years. They kicked (expletive), and stood by my side, and that's rare in the restaurant business."
Before it closes, the restaurant has two weeks for customers to come by one last time. The restaurant will be open regular hours until it's closed for a private event Oct. 28. Then it will be closed Oct. 29-31, and reopen for one last party.
There will be a Geeks Who Drink specialty quiz, happy hour snacks, a band, and most importantly, DiDomenico said, a chance for "everyone to say goodbye in the best way possible."
