Marjorie Mathews, dental assistant and homemaker

Marjorie G. Mathews of Amherst died at home following a long illness. She was 84.

The former Marjorie Bruce was born in Buffalo and attended Fosdick-Masten Park High School, now City Honors. Following high school she attended State University College for Teachers at Buffalo for several years finally deciding to attend Bryant and Stratton Business Institute where she received a dental secretarial degree in 1970.

Mrs. Mathews was a member of the Senior Citizens of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Philoptochos Ladies Society, Buffalo Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, Kensington Symphony Orchestra and the Jewish Center of Buffalo Chamber Orchestra.

She enjoyed playing the piano and oboe, gardening, crafts and reading.

She is predeceased by her husband Gust Mathews and is survived by three sons, Michael, James and Peter; and five grandchildren.
