WARSAW – A Perry woman pleaded guilty in Wyoming County Court Thursday to killing her friend in a fit of rage over an ex-boyfriend.
Kira Kastenhuber, 39, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Desirae Withey, 33, also of Perry, on Feb. 6, after she learned Withey had begun dating her former boyfriend. Police reported Withey was beaten, strangled and stabbed in the victim’s home.
Kastenhuber tried to take her own life with drugs a day after the slaying and left a suicide note admitting the killing, authorities said.
Under the plea deal, she faces 15 years to life in prison when sentenced in December.
