Cheektowaga man facing federal child pornography charges

A Cheektowaga man was arrested by federal agents Friday on charges he possessed child pornography of children younger than 12.

Robert Acker, 34, was remanded to home confinement pending the completion of the case, during an appearance before U.S. Magisrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder Jr. Friday, and also was ordered to wear an electronic monitor.

On Sept. 1, FBI agents raided Acker’s home and seized electronic devices and DVDs containing more than 7,000 images of child pornography, U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. said. If convicted as charged, Acker could face a federal prison term of up to 20 years and a fine of up to $250,000.
