Amerks hosting 'home game' in Buffalo on Thursday

The Rochester Americans' lone "home game" of the preseason is Thursday night ... in Buffalo.

The Amerks will face the Binghamton Senators at 7 p.m. in HarborCenter. Tickets for the game are $10, and the game will also be streamed live at Boxcast.tv.

The Sabres have been fighting a two-year battle with the city of Rochester to upgrade Blue Cross Arena, a debate that started under former team President Ted Black and continued this spring under his replacement, Russ Brandon. The Sabres refused to host a preseason game in Rochester this year and are holding all of Amerks training camp in Buffalo.

Rochester will close its two-game preseason schedule Saturday in Binghamton. The regular season starts Oct. 14 when Hershey visits Rochester.

The Sabres, meanwhile, will return to practice at noon Thursday. Ryan O'Reilly suffered a minor injury during Wednesday's preseason loss to Carolina. Buffalo closes its exhibition schedule Friday in Ottawa.
