A house a block from the Broadway Market sustained about $60,000 in damage in a fire early Wednesday morning.
The blaze in the home on the northeast corner of Clark and Kent streets was reported at 5:30 a.m., according to the Buffalo Fire Department alarm office.
It could not be conclusively determined whether the home was occupied, but no one was found to be at home at the time of the fire, the alarm office said. A search of the interior of the house found no one.
The fire began on the first floor and extended to the second floor. The cause is under investigation, the alarm office said.
