President-elect of American Medical Association to speak Saturday in Buffalo

The president-elect of the American Medical Association will speak Saturday in Buffalo.

Dr. David Barbe will give the keynote address to the annual meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Eastern Great Lakes Chapter, a two-day event taking place this weekend at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Barbe, a family physician from Missouri, will speak on “The Changing Nature of Physician Payment after the SGR: The Future Isn’t What It Used to Be,” a reference to the Medicare sustainable growth rate.

Barbe is a veteran AMA officer who helped develop association policy on coverage of the uninsured, healthcare and Medicare reform and changes to the health insurance market.

He will speak from 11:15 a.m. to noon in the David C. Hohn Auditorium, in Roswell Park’s Research Studies Center at Elm and Carlton streets. The public is invited. No registration is required. For more information, see the program brochure.
