Sept. 10 marked a big day for Shawn Mendes, an 18-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter who is growing rapidly in the music industry.
He performed at Madison Square Garden in New York City to a sold-out crowd of all ages.
The intention of the show was to provide a taste of what would be featured on his upcoming sophomore album “Illuminate.”
The new songs can easily be compared to those of John Mayer and Ed Sheeran. However, Mendes puts his own twist with his soothing falsetto and melodious vocals.
The album is sure to surprise fans, as it is very mature compared to his debut album, “Handwritten,” which was released in spring 2015.
Mendes recently announced he will be touring the new album during the summer of 2017.
Based on the Madison Square Garden show, we highly recommend the upcoming tour.
“This isn’t an artist-to-fan relationship,” Mendes told the crowd at MSG, “this is a person-to-person relationship.”
Mendes’ shows are incredibly intimate and he does his best to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves and having a good time. Attendees of his shows are sure to be blown away by the multitalented teenager.
“Illuminate” was released Sept. 23. We highly recommend giving the album a listen.
Shawn Mendes will easily become a household name and you’ll soon find yourself jamming out to his fun, relatable songs.
