Lockport man charged with DWI after leaving crash scene at gas station

LOCKPORT – A Lockport man left the scene of a collision in a gas station parking lot last week and was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated, State Police said.

Troopers responded to Kenyons on Robinson Road on Friday and found the driver of a vehicle involved in a crash had driven away.

State Police were able to identify the suspect as Jay E. Penman, and he was located at his home. Penman, 63, failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Lockport barracks where he registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.12 percent, State Police said.

Troopers charged him with DWI and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident.

State Police issued Penman traffic tickets for Lockport Town Court.
