Islam expert John Esposito, professor of religion and international affairs and of Islamic studies at Georgetown University, will discuss “Islam in America and Geo-politics” at 7 p.m. on Oct. 5 at St. Bonaventure University.
The talk will be held in the Robert R. Jones Board of Trustees Room of Doyle Hall.
Esposito is one of the country’s most prominent scholars of Islamic studies, political Islam and Islamophobia. He has served as a consultant to the U.S. Department of State and other agencies, European and Asian governments, corporations, universities, and the media worldwide. More than 45 books and 100 articles of his have been translated into 35 languages.
He also was involved in the founding of St. Bonaventure’s Center for Arab and Islamic Studies.
