Driver strikes 17-year-old pedestrian crossing Sheridan Drive

A 17-year-old girl crossing Sheridan Drive at Delaware Avenue on Monday night was struck by a car, police said.

The driver, who was heading west on Sheridan, struck the girl in the crosswalk at about 10:15 p.m., Town of Tonawanda Police Capt. Joseph Carosi said.

The girl was taken to Erie County Medical Center. No information was available about her condition, police said.

Police are investigating the matter and no charges had been filed as of mid-morning on Tuesday, Carosi said.
