North Tonawanda woman tells police she took opioids before driving

A North Tonawanda woman driving all over the road Thursday night admitted she took some opioids before getting behind the wheel, City of Tonawanda police said.

A driver on the Youngmann Highway reported to police Corrine R. Martin, 59, of Stenzil Street, was driving recklessly and nearly struck some curbs. The caller followed Martin as she got off the Interstate-290, police said.

A City of Tonawanda officer caught up and reported Martin was weaving and making wide turns. The officer pulled her over on Minerva Street and reported Martin was lethargic.

A drug recognition expert determined Martin was impaired by opioids, and she admitted to police she took Fioricet and Percocet, according to authorities.

She was arrested at 11:30 p.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while impaired by drugs, driving left of pavement markings and having illegal tint on windows. She was held on $250 bail.
