Writer poignantly shared heartbreak of Alzheimer’s

The My View article written by Shirley Palmerton, “Oh, how I wish you would talk to me,” which was published in The News on Sept. 9, really opened my eyes to the pain a partner of an Alzheimer spouse lives with.

She wrote eloquently and from the heart about the anguish a spouse experiences on a daily basis. The life they shared during a 66-year marriage, the good and the bad, her husband has no memory of. She has lost her partner in life, even though he is sitting right in front of her.

My heart goes out to her, and to other families suffering with this insidious disease.
