Homeless man beaten by teens upgraded to serious condition at ECMC

A 64-year-old homeless man who was badly beaten by four teenagers near the downtown library about 5:40 a.m. Thursday was upgraded from critical to serious condition Friday, Buffalo police reported.

The victim is in Erie County Medical Center.

The four suspects, a 17-year-old, a 16-year-old and two juvenile boys arrested late Thursday by NFTA police officers, remain in custody on felony assault and gang assault charges, police spokesman Michael DeGeorge said. The city’s surveillance camera system set up by Buffalo Police on Main Street and elsewhere played a key role in the capture of the suspects, DeGeorge said.
