Buffalo police officers quickly arrested a heavily-intoxicated man who stabbed a security guard escorting him out of (716) Food and Sport, located at Washington and Scott streets, just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Michael J. DeGeorge, spokesman for the Buffalo Police Department.
The drunken man pulled out some sort of knife from his pants pocket and stabbed the security guard in the hand and then tried to run away. But a Buffalo Police patrol was making a routine check of that area and quickly arrested the man less than a block from the tavern, DeGeorge said.
The suspect is in police custody as officers consider which criminal charges to lodge against him. He is likely to be arraigned in Buffalo City Court Friday morning, DeGeorge said. The security guard was treated for his hand injury, he added.
