A $250,000 donation from KeyBank will help complete interior work at the Darwin Martin House.
“As an internationally renowned attraction, this world-class project has inspired immense civic pride demonstrated by enormous and committed community support,” said Beth Mooney, KeyCorp’s chairman and CEO. “It deserves to be completed.”
The Martin House Restoraation Corp. said the donation will support the fifth and final major scope of work. That includes restoration of extensive woodwork and built-in cabinetry, paint and plaster finishes, and the re-creation of an elaborate fireplace mosaic consisting of tens of thousands of individual glass tiles in a warm palette of bronzes, golds and greens.
“A fully restored Martin House will contribute to increased visitation and educational programs, which will strengthen profitability and further expand economic impact in Western New York as a centerpiece of architectural tourism,” said John N. Walsh III, capital campaign chair. “We are grateful for KeyCorp’s generous support of our community and our efforts at the Martin House.”
