Metro Rail’s Allen-Medical Campus Station will be closed Saturday through Oct. 9 because of construction of the new University at Buffalo School of Medicine above.
During the down time, Metro will provide daily shuttle service to and from the Summer Best Station every 12 minutes for riders seeking access to the Allen-Medical Campus neighborhood. Passengers need to exit the train at Summer-Best to use the shuttle service.
The closure will allow crews to install a new elevator and real-time bus and rail message boards, Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority officials said. Rebuilt escalators will also be tested and the entire station cleaned.
In addition, the station will gain a new entrance, floors and walls.
The station will reopen with the start of service on Oct. 10.
