Prize will help Riverkeeper continue its excellent work
It was heartening to read in The News that Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper was awarded the prestigious Thiess International Riverprize for outstanding efforts to restore environmental health to our regional waterways.
As Executive Director Jill Jedlicka noted, this award is a testament to scores of people – many of them volunteers – who’ve labored for decades to protect and restore our area’s natural treasures.
The generous prize money will enable Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper to continue the ongoing restoration projects that contribute so much to the environmental health and beauty of our area. Hopefully our children of the future will know and appreciate the hard work and dedication of people today who work tirelessly for a healthier, more beautiful Western New York now and in the future.
