Dolores A. Dudek, school crossing guard, volunteer usher in Dunkirk

DUNKIRK – Dolores A. “Dodo” Dudek, a school crossing guard and a volunteer usher at numerous events, died Saturday in her Dunkirk home. She was 86.

Born in Dunkirk, the former Dolores Muszalski worked as a crossing guard at School 7 for many years.

Mrs. Dudek also assisted at more than 400 events in the SUNY Fredonia Center for the Arts and was an usher at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and, with her husband, Raymond, a volunteer for the Red Cross bloodmobile in Dunkirk.

An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed sewing for her children and grandchildren.

For Christmas, she knitted each family member a special pair of slippers.

Mrs. Dudek also was an avid golfer and took part in a senior bowling league.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 65 years are four daughters, Barbara Mizwa, Linda Katta, Doreen Carr and Theresa Hill; a son, Steven; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 328 Washington Ave., Dunkirk
