Stabbing on Lilac Street sends man to Mercy Hospital

A man was treated at Mercy Hospital for a stab wound following a dispute in the first block of Lilac Street on Monday evening, according to Buffalo Police Department spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge late Monday.

Another man, apparently his cousin, 20, was arrested on assault and weapons charges, according to DeGeorge.

The incident took place about 7:40 p.m. and resulted in both police and a Buffalo Fire Department medical unit being sent to the scene.

The victim was taken to Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the suspect was taken into custody, according to DeGeorge.

The unidentified suspect faces assault and criminal possession of a weapon charges, the police department spokesman said.
