CONWAY, Mary Ann (McHugh)

CONWAY - Mary Ann (nee McHugh) Mary Ann Conway (nee McHugh), age 86, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2016 after an extended battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on November 2, 1929 in Detroit, MI to the late William and Jane McHugh. Mary graduated from St. Gregory's High School, she received her degree in education from Medaille College in 1976.Mary formerly taught in the Buffalo and Lackawanna School systems, she retired from Franklin Elementary School in 1994. Mary was actively involved in Boy Scout Troop #547, earning their highest honor as a volunteer. She was also very involved in the PTA at Washington Elementary School, serving in various positions, and always on hand to help. Mary belonged to a local walking group and joined her family on numerous backpacking and camping trips. Mary enjoyed traveling abroad to Costa Rica, Guatemala and Japan. Mary was preceded in death by her husband John T. "Jack" Conway; her brothers John and Thomas and her sister Joanna and Helen. Mary is survived by brothers William (Dorris) McHugh and George (Pat) McHugh, her sisters in law Claire Marie Polkovitz and Ruth McHugh; her son Daniel (Emiko) Conway of Sendai, Japan; her son Barry (Rose Ann) Conway of Dayton, OH; her daughter Judith M. (Paul) Ayoub of Cypress, TX and her son Edward Conway (Carol Kahn) of Manchester, MI; her grandchildren, Staci, Michael, Scott, Thomas, Kristin, Daniel, Samantha, Michelle, Christopher and Nicholas; her great-grandchildren, Grace and Madelyn; and her many nieces and nephews along with numerous other relatives. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service that will be held at Our Lady of Victory Basilica at 9:15 AM on
Saturday September 24, 2016. Flowers are gratefully declined. Expressions of sympathy may be given to the
