Falls drinking party climaxes with victim in stitches

NIAGARA FALLS – A Niagara Falls man was smashed in the head with a beer bottle late Friday, opening a cut that required at least 20 stitches.

The victim, a 33-year-old Buffalo Avenue man, told police he was drinking with neighbors in his apartment shortly after 11 p.m. when he was attacked unexpectedly by another man. He was treated in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

A short time later, police went to a Hyde Park Boulevard apartment complex, where a resident was attacked by a man and woman who showed up at her door. The 20-year-old victim told police that when she answered the door, the woman pulled her outside by the hair and began punching her in the face. The man watched the attack but did not join in, police said.

Police said the victim suspects the attack may be retaliation.
