Olean DWI and drug suspect pleads not guilty to indictment

LITTLE VALLEY – Christopher R. Rowand, 36, of Olean, pleaded not guilty before Cattaraugus County Judge Ronald D. Ploetz Friday to a felony drug and drunken-driving indictment.

Rowand, who was stopped on West State Street in Olean about 3:30 a.m. Jan. 28, was arrested after illegal drugs packaged for street sale were found in his vehicle, Olean police said. District Attorney Lori Pettit Rieman said Rowand had heroin, crack cocaine, powdered cocaine and drug paraphernalia worth an estimated $3,000.

Rowand was recently indicted by a grand jury on a felony count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
