LOCKPORT – The Niagara County Legislature is expected to appoint two new department heads at a special meeting Wednesday night.
William H. Flynn, 51, a Gasport resident who has worked in the private sector for 28 years, is to be chosen as information technology director. Donald J. Jablonski Jr., 58, of the Town of Lockport, already a county employee, is to become employment and training director.
Flynn is to be paid $86,916 per year, and Jablonski is to earn $61,807.
Flynn succeeds Larry L. Helwig, who retired in early August after 18 years as the county’s computer chief. Flynn worked for the last 10 years at AccuMED Corp. in Buffalo, most recently as director of business systems and processes.
Jablonski, who also is chairman of the Town of Lockport Republican Committee, replaces Thomas M. Jaccarino, who left Employment and Training in late August to become director of eligibility at the county Social Services Department. Jablonski has been earning $46,869 a year as fiscal director of the county Office for the Aging.
Employment and Training is a largely federally funded department that administers job training programs.
Wednesday’s Legislature meeting will be held at 6:45 p.m. in the offices of the county Industrial Development Agency, 6311 Inducon Corporate Drive, Wheatfield.
