Four to join Niagara hockey

Niagara University announced four incoming freshmen who will join the hockey team for the 2016-17 season. Additions to coach Dave Burkholder’s team roster are forwards Nick Carrier of Delson, Quebec, Joe Molinaro of Mississauga, Ont. and Tyler Tomberlin of Andover, Minn. The fourth is defenseman Tyler Hayes of Brighton, Mich.

Carrier had 53 assists in 62 games for the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canada Hockey league last season. Hayes played two seasons for Topeka, Kan. of the North American Hockey League. Tomberlin was sixth in scoring in the NAHL with 63 points (17-46) in 59 games for Fairbanks, Alaska. Molinaro led the Amarillo Bulls in scoring with 45 points (16-29) in the NAHL.
