LOCKPORT – Two Lockport residents arrested Tuesday are linked to separate instances of welfare fraud, according to Niagara County Sheriff James R. Voutour.

Irving Burkhardt, 45, illegally obtained more than $3,300 in public assistance and Casey Roberts, 30, more than $2,600 in welfare benefits, according to Voutour.

Both are charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing. The Sheriff’s Welfare Fraud Unit and Niagara County Department of Social Services investigated.
