Christopher L. Jacobs won the GOP primary for the 60th Senate District Tuesday, trouncing Kenmore attorney Kevin T. Stocker.
With 44 percent of the vote counted, Jacobs – the county clerk – was leading Stocker 75 to 25 percent.
The win is especially significant for Erie County Republican leaders, who enthusiastically backed Jacobs despite Stocker’s impressive win in the 2014 GOP primary.
In the Democratic primary, newcomer Amber A. Small scored a major win over Alfred T. Coppola. She leads 66 to 34 percent with 61 percent of the vote counted. She was also the endorsed candidate of Democratic leaders.
