Six area PTAs, including three in the Williamsville Central School District, have been named National PTA Schools of Excellence.
“Family engagement and partnerships with schools, educators and communities is so critical to supporting our children,” said Bonnie Russell, president of the New York State Parent Teacher Association.
The PTAs recognized include the Hamburg Central PTSA, as well as the PTAs at Huth Road School in the Grand Island School District, Dodge Elementary, Heim Elementary and Heim Middle schools in the Williamsville School District and Delevan Elementary in the Pioneer Central School District.
The National PTA School of Excellence designation is awarded when a PTA and school have achieved a high level of family engagement or when a PTA and school have made substantive, positive improvement in families’ perceptions by the end of the school year.
There were 173 recognized nationwide, including 15 in New York State.
