Williamsville North High School’s new athletic field complex features two new scoreboards, including a video scoreboard, and nearly 295,000 square feet of artificial turf.
The grand opening for the new athletic field complex will take place at 6 p.m. Sept. 16, before the homecoming football game between the Spartans and Niagara Wheatfield at North High School, 1595 Hopkins Road.
The field will accommodate football, soccer, field hockey, softball and lacrosse. The complex also features bleachers, press box, field lights, concession area and rest rooms.
The north fields are the first of three projects to be completed as part of $22.4 million in athletic field improvements approved by voters. Ground breaking on new fields at Williamsville East and Williamsville South high schools is to take place next spring.
