Fire at Best Street displaces six

The Red Cross was called to provide temporary assistance for two adults and four children after a fire at their 1-1/2 story house at 669 Best Street Thursday afternoon, according to the Buffalo Fire Department.

Fire crews were called to the house just after 4 p.m. and were able to contain the fire to an unoccupied room above the first floor, which is where the family lived.

The fire was reported under control about 4:25 p.m. None of the occupants were injured. Damages were listed by the Buffalo Fire Department at $15,000 to the building and $10,000 to contents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
