Five interested in appointment to Frontier Central School Board

Five people want to become the newest Frontier Central School Board member.

The School Board sought applications after Tom Best Jr. resigned earlier this summer. Best serves on the Town Board.

“I’d like to invite them all to our next board meeting,” President Janet MacGregor Plarr said Tuesday night, and board members agreed.

They decided they would interview the applicants during the open section of the board’s next meeting, on Sept. 20.

“I have no problem doing that in public. This is a public office we hold,” Plarr said.

Vice President Davis Podkulski said he would like to give candidates the questions in advance, and Plarr said she wanted to see how they handled questions without knowing what would be asked.

Board members seemed inclined to have candidates given several questions in advance, and then save some for the evening of the meeting.

Candidates also would be given time for a brief introduction.

Plarr said she would send the candidates a letter telling them of the plan, and asked board members to send her their questions.
