Coalition for Economic Justice to rally with NFTA riders, workers

The Coalition for Economic Justice will gather Wednesday afternoon outside the downtown bus station a day before scheduled contract talks between the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority and agency employees.

Coalition members, along with bus riders, drivers and mechanics, will come together to “pray for a softening of the hearts of NFTA executives who have refused to come to a fair contract agreement over a nearly eight-year period,” the organization said.

Participants will gather at 3 p.m. on the Oak Street side of the building, the group said in a news release.

“Religious leaders know it is crucial to care for the least of these and they will pray for a good contract but also for an NFTA that invests in new service throughout the Western New York region so that everyone in our region will live no more than a 2-minute walk away from public transit,” the coalition said.
