Letter: Peace protest disruptions harken to the worst history

Peace protest disruptions harken to the worst history

In reading a novel set in Germany of the mid 1930s, I am struck by the politics of the Nazi rise to power that I can compare to what we see taking place in our country right now. The “brownshirts” of Germany stopped all dissent against Hitler by disrupting meetings and attacking rally participants of opposition parties.

Donald Trump is experiencing the current day “brownshirts” at his rallies and speeches. Disrupting meetings and violently threatening and attacking attendees is a “brownshirt” tactic that is also spreading to campuses.

It’s coming from the young and the liberal and must be stopped.
