Two injured when driver exiting I-86 fails to yield

A two-vehicle collision in Chautauqua County on Saturday sent the driver of one and a passenger in the other to a Jamestown hospital for treatment of minor injuries after one driver pulled into the path of another while getting off Interstate 86.

Kenneth Kellogg, 71, of Silver Creek, was exiting the highway’s westbound ramp onto Route 394 in North Harmony at about 9:20 a.m., when he failed to yield the right of way and pulled in front of a northbound vehicle on 394 driven by 71-year-old Richard Cole of Jamestown, causing the crash, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies said.

Both Cole and Diana Kellogg, a 71-year-old passenger in the other vehicle, were treated at the scene and transported to WCA Hospital for minor injuries. Kenneth Kellogg was not injured, but was cited and will appear in North Harmony Court at a later date.

Deputies as well as the Ashville and Chautauqua fire departments responded.
