Noise complaint leads to neighbor’s arrest for criminal possession of an assault weapon

A Delaware Avenue apartment resident was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon after he attacked and threatened a neighbor who had asked him to keep the noise down, police said.

Adrion V. McLaurin, 39, allegedly assaulted a male neighbor after the neighbor knocked on McLaurin’s door, striking him in the face and body and biting him in the left upper chest. The attack caused swelling and redness in the victim’s right eye and upper chest, as well as pain and redness to his knees.

According to the victim, McLaurin then pulled out an unloaded black Intratec TEC 22 assault weapon from his waistband, but the victim was able to wrest the weapon away and ran to his own apartment to call for help.

Police officers found the weapon in another apartment, while the ammunition magazine was located in the hallway outside of McLaurin’s apartment. Police said the gun’s serial number was defaced and unclear.

McLaurin continued to curse and threaten the victim while police were investigating.

Besides the third-degree weapon felony, McLaurin was charged with second-degree menacing, third-degree assault and second-degree harassment.
