Stauffer wins, Nielsen second in WNY-PGA senior event

Kirk Stauffer of the Pine Acres Country Club in Bradford, Pa. won the Western New York PGA Senior Championship for the third time Friday, shooting a 3-under-par 67-72-139 at the Niagara Frontier Country Club in Youngstown.

Steve Latimer of Rochester and Lonnie Nielsen of Orchard Park tied for second at 141. Nielsen shot a 69 in his second round.

Stauffer, Nielsen and fourth-place finisher Jack Widger (Elkdale) qualified to play in the PGA National Senior Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla., in October.

Nielsen was the Super Senior (60 and over) champion. Bobby Hogan (Niagara Frontier) finished second with a 146.

Ed Pfister, former pro at East Aurora CC, won the Classic Senior (70 and over) title with 67-72-139.
