Stolen paintings obviously worth thief’s time, effort

News arts critic Colin Dabkowski’s column on Aug. 30 said of George William Eggers paintings pilfered from the Dunkirk Historical Museum “…valued at less than $1,000, were hardly worth enough to merit the theft.”

I believe the thief had excellent taste. Beauty is not always in the eye of the beholder. The paintings are worth far more.
