Two fund raisers to help victims of the earthquake in Italy feature a full-course authentic Italian pasta dinner, according to Lucia Caracci Ederer, honorary vice consul of Italy.
The earthquake struck the mountainous region of central Italy on August 24 and is believed responsible for the deaths of at least 250 people.
The first local event will begin at 6 p.m. Sept. 10 in the main gallery of Niagara Arts and Cultural Center, 1201 Pine, Niagara Falls. The Italian specialty dinner sponsored by Fortuna’s and Marketside restaurants will cost $20.
At 6 p.m. Oct. 19, Dennis DiPaolo will sponsor a pasta dinner at DiPaolo’s Restaurant, 3785 South Park Ave. in Blasdell. That event will also feature the old-world Italian sound of the Formula Band. Tickets cost $25. Both events will offer Italian-themed baskets for raffle.
Money raised from the events will go to the Amatrice Earthquake Relief Fund.
Tickets may be purchased and donations will be accepted at the office of the Italian Vice Consulate from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The office is located inside NACC on Pine Street, Niagara Falls. For more information contact the consulate at firstname.lastname@example.org or 856-3626.
