Extra equipment called to stubborn fire on Trowbridge

Extra equipment was called in to fight a stubborn fire Thursday afternoon in a two-family home on Trowbridge Street that left at least six people homeless, reported the Buffalo Fire Department dispatch center.

The fire started 1:38 p.m. in a first-floor bedroom of the 2.5-story house at 72 Trowbridge between South Park Avenue and Durant Street. It extended to the second floor and into the attic, said fire dispatchers.

Extra equipment was called for at 1:49 p.m.

Damages were estimated at $65,000 to the structure and $30,000 to its contents, reported fire personnel. Exposure damage of $5,000 was reported at 70 Trowbridge.

The Red Cross will provide emergency shelter and personal items for the six displaced residents, fire dispatchers said.
