1270 The Fan to carry Syracuse, Notre Dame football

Are you ready for some football?

1270 The Fan has made a deal to carry radio broadcasts of Syracuse University football, which opens its season under new Coach Dino Babers at 7 p.m. Friday against Colgate.

More importantly to most Syracuse fans and alumni who enjoy winning, The Fan is planning to carry SU basketball games this upcoming season as well.

The Fan, which is one of three sports stations in town, also will be carrying Notre Dame football games this season when its games don’t conflict with Syracuse games. Notre Dame and Syracuse play each other on Oct. 1 at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey.

The times of all Notre Dame games aren’t set because it is a big TV draw, but several of its games are played at different times than Syracuse games. Its season opener is Sunday night against Texas.

The Bucky and Sully Show, featuring Buffalo News sportswriters Bucky Gleason and Jerry Sullivan, will air on The Fan this season from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays starting Sept. 12 from RiverWorks. The program will be hosted by Bob Koshinski.

With the Labor Day weekend coming up, there will be plenty of binge-watching of television shows.

WNED-TV, the local PBS affiliate, will be airing a “Downton Abbey” Labor Day weekend marathon of all six seasons from 9 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Monday. The popular program finished its run earlier this season.
