Niagara men's hoops team will open season vs. UB

The Niagara University men's basketball team will open its season at home against the University at Buffalo.

Niagara released its non-conference schedule Wednesday. The Purple Eagles, who went 7-25 last season, will meet the defending Mid-American Conference-champion Bulls on Nov. 11 at the Gallagher Center.

Niagara then ventures on a week-long, three-game road trip starting against Brown on Nov. 13. Niagara then has four straight games in the Scarlet Knight Showcase, with games at Hartford (Nov. 15), at Rutgers (Nov. 20), home vs. Drexel (Nov. 23) and at North Texas (Nov. 25). Niagara plays at Kent State Dec. 7.

The Purple Eagles welcome Norfolk State on Dec. 10 before traveling to play Youngstown State on Dec. 14 and against LIU Brooklyn on Dec. 21 at the Barclays Center. Sandwiched between the YSU and LIU Brooklyn games is the Big 4 Classic Doubleheader where Niagara will face St. Bonaventure on Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. in Buffalo.
