Man surrenders in Niagara Falls assault case

NIAGARA FALLS – A 37-year-old Jerauld Avenue man who surrendered to Niagara Falls detectives Wednesday faces a second-degree assault charge in the beating of a Niagara Falls man.

Donald Sinclair Jr. remained in custody pending his Niagara Falls City Court arraignment Thursday morning, according to Chief of Detectives Kelly J. Rizzo.

Sinclair and the 43-year-old victim of the assault at 69th Street and Edison Avenue know each other, Rizzo said. Rizzo declined further comment.

The victim was flown to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of a severe head injury. He was in critical condition Wednesday, Rizzo said.

Sinclair could face additional and more severe charges if the victim’s physical condition worsens.

The assault took place during some sort of dispute about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
