City Hallways (Aug. 31) Latest on Deep South Taco

Autumn tacos
I got a press release earlier this week from Deep South Taco, announcing it's having an end-of-summer  "beach party" Sunday, Sept. 4, at its Ellicott Street location.  I took the opportunity to ask for an update on the Hertel restaurant.

Here's the answer I got:

"We are thinking 60 days away from opening. Construction has been coming along and we are in the hiring process for staff. We are planning to host a job fair at the Hertel location soon."

Something to chew on
Another food truck license is being requested from the city. This one from Carnivorous. I think it's safe to say they will be serving meat.

I thumbed though the pile of papers filed so far with the City Clerk for the upcoming Common Council meetings and was struck by all the requests for signs.

  • LED pole sign in front of Tony's Ranch House restaurant, 2285 Main St.
  • Ground sign for Rainbow K early childhood classes, 433 Franklin St.
  • Ground sign for Notaro & Laing law firm, 217 Linwood Ave.
  • Freestanding and canopy sign at 250 Delaware office building.
The signs all need Planning Board as well as Council approval.

Today's Calendar Items

Mayor Brown and Niagara Councilman Dave Rivera are scheduled to be at Broderick Park this morning to commemorate completion of the new Contemplative Garden, located along a recorded stop on the Underground Railroad.
