A Buffalo man stopped for driving erratically faces a number of charges, including felony driving while intoxicated, after Buffalo Police alleged they found a 1-year-old sitting on his lap behind the wheel.
Jesus Santiago, 24, of West Avenue, was stopped by police at just after 9 p.m. Friday on Potomac Avenue. He told an officer that “had been drinking a little bit” and said he had one beer and a shot, according to a police report. Santiago was found with a blood alcohol level of 0.09 percent, which is above the legal limit of 0.08 percent, the report said.
His drunken driving charge was raised to a felony aggravated DWI because there was a child, whom he identified as his niece, in the car.
He was additionally charged with failure to keep right, driving the wrong way down a one-way street, unlawful possession of marijuana, and a seat belt violation for having a child younger than 4 in the front seat, according to police.
