Russell Brown Jr., former Buffalo Evening News typesetter

July 13, 1924 – Aug. 21, 2016

Russell Brown Jr., of Orchard Park, died Sunday in Father Baker Manor. He was 92.

Born in Hamburg, he graduated from Orchard Park High School.

Following high school, Mr. Brown served as an Army private, chaplain and medical technician during World War II.

He was the recipient of the Bronze Star; Conspicuous Service Award; European, African, Middle Eastern campaign medals; Efficiency, Honor & Fidelity Medal; and the Army of Occupation World War II Medal.

After his military service, he worked for The Buffalo Evening News as a typesetter and was part of the Buffalo Typographical Union.

Mr. Brown was also past president of the Hillcrest Volunteer Fire Department in Orchard Park.

He was also a member of the Royal Order of Masons, Zion Lodge 514.

He is survived by a son, Scott.
